Worker Co-ops Growing In US

This encouraging article from Janis Mara of California's ContraCostaTimes was posted January 7th.

The report tells of the worker-owned worker-managed co-operative sphere, which is slowly expanding in the US. According to the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA), co-ops are generating US$400 million annualy. About half of that is in the San Francisco area.

Co-operative ventures are a part of a Distributist economy, along with small and medium-sized businesses. Employees are not only part-owners but part-managers as well. They have a greater stake in the health and morale of the company.

News like this should spur others to begin similar operations wherever they find themselves. Contact the NCBA for more information. And do what you can, however small, to promote a Distributist economy in America.
