My thoughts exactly. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I read the headline. Surely this must be a mistake. But no, the committee assures us that it was *unanimous*.
You know, this is particularly interesting when you consider how long the Nobel Prize winners typically have to wait for such recognition. Longevity is actually important, as the prize is seldom awarded prior to at least a decade after the key accomplishment, and it's not given posthumously. Rosalind Franklin, for instance, may have been more important to the discovery of the properties of DNA than any one of the three men who received the award for it in 1962, but died before then. And how many had even heard of Barack Obama prior to his keynote address before the Democratic Presidential Convention?
Tom-I wonder as well what extent Hudge/Gudge has it......
Lets see, Mother Teresa feeding, clothing, nursing the poor..
Ghandi led massive, millions strong peaceful resistance....
Obama, a bankers puppet who is curerntly, as we type, bombing and continuing the unconstitutional, undeclared "wars" against our "enemies".....makes perfect sense.....
Next yr, can we nominate, posthumously, Pol Pot.....?? Ok, maybe have to wait for body counts...
Sitting here, looking at these comment pages, I find this recurring theme of losing hope. This is a discouraging trend and to be completely honest we need to stop it. If we, as Christians, (again I'm under the assumption that most of us who read this blogroll are.) then we have hope because Christ was raised to new life. And this hope should cause us to act differently. Tom Laney a couple of weeks ago wrote about the importance of solidarity and love for the poor and how that gives hope. This sentiment gives hope because it is the reflection of the love of God in the world. We can do this, no matter what system is in place, whether it be capitalism, socialism, or a world ruled by massive anarchist frogs. Yes, this trend is different for Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize; however, no matter what others tell us, we know what we have to do. Our voice is not Obama, it is the voice of the Holy Spirit, and His prodding should guide the light of our hearts.
Peace, afitz211
P.S. As I think about the post, I note the more positive overtone which the Vatican has taken in response to Obama. This solidarity is something which is helpful in going forward toward an uncertain future.
of course we have hope...real hope in Christ, not some charltan....the Peace prize should go to those that really are trying to bring peace.....not a war monger...nothing wrongto vent and call a problem a problem, but this site is devoted to offering hope and practical solutions...John's talk in Minn was full of hope (see my youtbe videos, under "EATEN ALIVE")
A lot of "conervative" Catholics-whatever that means today- crabbed and moaned when Pope met with Obama (guess Pope should only meet with lying lips GOPers)....I was not mad, as it gave Pope a chance to influence and deal directly with a man that is supporting evil-namely unjust wars, torture & worse, abortion...as Peter, B16 has a duty to try to reach world leaders with truths, even if not "in your face" directly.....lets pray for B16 and for Obama, that the holy Ghost work and we get out of His way...

Excellent quote. True. So true.
