Distributism in Northern Italy

This report - originally posted by Kevin Carson of the mutualist anarchist website Free Market Anti-Capitalism - is written by Dan Swinney of the Chicago-based Center for Labor and Community Research.

This region of northern Italy was at the bottom of the economic heap in the 1940's. But since then, it has developed it's own network of small businesses, co-ops and interaction with local government. According to the CLCR report, this region - called Emilia Romagna - now has the highest GDP per capita in all of Italy.

In so many ways, this is Distributism in action, and IT WORKS!

We encourage our readers to check the report, and see what aspects of it can be reproduced or modified for your particular part of the world.

And thanks, Kevin, for finding this piece of much-needed good news!

Where's the report? There's no link on your site. Is it at The Center for Labor and Community Research? Where? I'd like to read it. Sounds interesting!

Will fix the report soon, so as to put up the link. Until then, go to Kevin Carson's weblog - mutualist.blogspot.com - to get the link to the report there.

Thanks for the feedback!
