This report from Wired magazine tells of a project in California where hundreds of homeowners are generating their own electricity. This is through both low energy using appliances and solar panel power generation.

This is one way of de-centralizing the electric grid. Doing so makes it a less tempting target to terrorists or a foreign enemy. It is less demanding on power supplies. It creates more, albeit smaller, power supplies in a neighborhood or region.

This is a step in the right direction. This is applying Distributist Thought to a nation's energy supply. Bravo to California for doing something right.
